Incredible double-headed cow discovered in slaughtered animal's womb

LAUGHTERHOUSE workers were left stunned when they stumbled upon a TWO-HEADED COW.

Workers discovered the deformed 5kg calf in the womb of a recently-butchered animal.

And closer inspection revealed the stillborn beast had eyes, ears and nostrils but was bald with a tiny body and legs.

Despite butchering animals for a living, even the workers at the abattoir in Obidos, Brazil, were shaken by what they saw.

One said: “We have never seen anything like it in our lives. Word about the animal spread rapidly around the town and loads of people came to have a look.

“It shocked us all at how weird and alien it looked.”

The owner of the cow's mother, Aluisio Cancio, explained how he chose to have her killed because he believed she was no longer fertile.

Yet he was astonished when it was revealed the two-headed calf had been developing for seven months before it died.

He said: "I chose this cow because she was very old.

"I’ve been working in this business for over forty years and I have never seen anything happen like this in the town. I was surprised and I admit it scared me as well but I understand that even though it is weird it is a work of nature.”

The slaughterhouse's owner, Sivaldo Viana, confirmed he had frozen the animal and would donate it to a local university for veterinary research.

He said: "It is a rare case and it will make an interesting research specimen.”
